1. The National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) collects data on albedo, depth, and physical characteristics of ice melt ponds in the Canadian Arctic. Albedo is the ratio of the light reflected by ice to that received by it. (High albedo values give a white appearance to the ice.) Visible albedo values are recorded for a sample of 504 ice melt points located in the Canadian Arctic. These data are saved in the ICE sheet of provided data file. Another variable of interest is the type of ice observed for each pond. Ice type (column F) is classified as first-year ice (represented as the number 1), multiyear ice (2), or landfast ice (3).
a. Construct a summary table and a horizontal bar graph to describe the ice types of the 504 melt ponds.
b. Find a 90% confidence interval for the true mean visible albedo value of all Canadian Arctic ice ponds in column L to T.
c. Find a 90% confidence interval for the true variance visible albedo value of all Canadian Arctic ice ponds in column L to T.
d. What is the interpretation of the intervals gotten in (b) and (c)?
Assume a population standard deviation of 350 kilowatt hours. Determine the standard error of the mean. With a 0.95 probability, determine the margin of error or standard error.
A study of family income is studied through a sample of 500 randomly selected families. The results can be summarized as the mean family income was 41,000 the median income was 29,000.
What do we use the F Distribution to test? Provide an example from your place of employment or circle of influence of an instance when you could use the F Distribution.
To explain this, be sure to explain whether the null hypothesis should be rejected, the likelihood of that decision being an error, and why it might have been an error.
Find the indicated percentage for the normally distributed variable. Round your answer to two decimal places, if necessary.
If average size in square feet of homes built is 1810, determine maximum and minimum sizes of homes contractor must build. Suppose that standard deviations are 92 square feet.
Find the mean for the random variable X, the number of students who work full time in sample of size 16. Please round your answer to two decimal places.
Linear programming problems. Computethe following linear programming problem. Among which of the following points (X,Y) is feasible.
Harry and Melissa Jacobson produce handcrafted furniture in a workshop on their farm. They have obtained a load of 600 board feet of birch from a neighbour and are preparation to produce round kitchen tables and ladder-back chairs during the next ..
If the power plant of this city has a daily capacity of 12 million kilowatt hours what is the probability that this power supply will be inadequate on any given day.
the mean score on a physical fitness test for division i student-athletes is 947 with a standard deviation of 205. if
For each of the following hypotheses, decide whether a one-tailed or two-tailed test would be performed: Children with birth defects will score differently than the normal population on a measure of self-esteem.
