Out of the four social networking cites which would be Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, and Youtube I would choose Facebook as a brand manager of a company like Nike to target college-age women and men over the age of 55. Facebook's reach is enormous. One in every five people on the planet, which turns out to be 1.4 billion people, are active users of Facebook. On Facebook I could create my sneaker's fan page and this could draw people with a common interest for my sneakers to the page. Once one person is talking about this particular topic, many of their friends will see this information on their news feed and paid ads and promotions can be introduced into conversations among friends. This is a unique feature of Facebook and can increase traffic to my sneakers website. Facebook pages can be used to create awareness and also allow for consumers and prospective buyers to give feedback regarding the product. In the US alone, Facebook is used 58% by females and 42% by males so no doubt the specific target markets will be reached one way or another.
