In 1998 Nabiso company announced a 1000 chips challenge, claiming that every 18-oz bag of chips contained at least 1000 chocolate chips. Students purchased some randomly selected bags of cookies, and counted the chocolate chips. Some of their data are given here:
1219,1214,1087,1200,1419,1121,1325,1345,1244,1258,1356,1132,1191,1270,1295,1135
a) Check whether the conditions validating use of a one-sample t-interval to estimate the mean chip count are met(and even if you have some doubts about whether they are, go ahead with the rest of the problem. State your conclusions regarding these conditions.
b) Create a 95% confidence interval for the average number of chips.
c) Is your confidence interval at all consistent with Nabisco's advertising claim, or does it make it seem unlikely?
