Lysozyme hydrolyzes its substrate (hexa-N-acetylglucosame). The KM and kcat values are 6 ?M and 0.5 sec-1, respectively.

A. If lysozyme concentration is 0.01 ?M, what is the maximal initial reaction velocity?

B. Calculate the concentration of substrate at which the reaction velocity is 90% of its maximal value.

C. Calculate the catalytic efficiency of lysozyme (in units of M-1 s-1), in terms of the rate of encounter of enzyme with substrate. How does this value compare to the diffusion-limited value of k1 = 109 M-1 s-1?
