a) The standard state that we have been using for a solute in aqueous solution is a concentration of 1 molal - that is, one mol solute per kilogram of solvent. Derive a equation changing the chemical potential at a molal standard state to a molar standard state - that is, with a standard concentration equal to one mole of solute per liter of solution.
b) Calculate ?rxnG (standard state) for the weak acid ionization reaction of CH3CO2H in water at a temperature of 25C using the molar standard state. Retain all possible sig figs.
c)Calculate Ka for acetic acid in both the molal and molar standard states. Use as many sig figs as your calculations in part b.) warrant.
The double-replacement reaction below results in the formation of the precipitate lead chloride. Balance the equation and write the net ionic equation.
