1. Complete a comprehensive scan of your internal and external environment and summarize your findings/rationale. Instead, focus on identifying key problems/opportunities that warrant discussion in the strategic planning and explain how you drew your conclusions. The report should be concise and evidence-based.

Internal environment: compromises of each facility/department that you operate in your hotel, and your employees (staff and management). Factors to consider may include but are not limited to financial performance, budgeting, resource allocation, staff satisfaction and service quality.

External environment: compromises of your competition (comp set), guest/customer needs, and any other outside factors presented in the simulation (economic, political, social, etc.) that may influence your strategy or daily operations. The performance of your internal environment is often directly linked to your external environment.

2. Create a SWOT analysis, prioritizing 3-4 areas (max) for each of the four sections (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats). There is no need to provide a detailed rationale in your SWOT;
