Assignment - CHP design project on advanced energy engineering economics
The objective of the CA in Advanced Energy Engineering Economics is as follows:
Based on the techno-economic data provided in class determine the optimum size of a CHP system.
The deliverable is a bound report + CD with MS Excel model (attached to the sleeve on the inside of the back cover).
Report ToC -
Executive Summary
Chp 1: Introduction
Chp 2: Presentation and analysis of data (e.g. time-series, heat versus power, annual load duration curves for both heat and power, etc.)
Chp 3: Description of engineering economic optimization algorithm (including assumptions, flowchart and justification) and identification of optimization metric (e.g. NPV, IRR, Least cost)
Chp 4: Results of optimization (including year-on-year DCF for optimum size, and both sensitivity and scenario analysis for main input variables)
Chp 5: Allocation of costs to both heat and electricity and determination of tariffs (both capacity and energy)
Chp 6: Conclusions and discussion
Appendices e.g. sample engineering calculations.
