Virtual teams are becoming more common in the business environment, and managers are being increasingly called upon to lead those teams. So how should they do it?

Consider the following scenario:

You are a logistics supply chain corporate-level manager based in Chicago responsible for maintaining the product supply channels from point of manufacture to the worldwide distribution centers, and then to marketplaces for your International Marketing/Sales Company. Your logistics management team is diverse and located in various worldwide locations. Most of the primary manufacturing is done in Southeast Asia. Shipping primarily occurs via ocean shipping with some critical products/components by air. You have logistics management team managers at ocean ports/air terminals as well as at two distribution centers in the United States and one in Europe. Your managerial teams consist of both U.S. and foreign national members. Your team's job is to keep the supply chains open, flowing and on-time to make corporate sales/profit goals.
