Case study: Seltics Brewery

Seltics Brewery is a leading specialty brewer known for its all-malt beer. It is considered as the third most popular beverage in the world. The company is proud to be using high quality ingredients and brewing skill on its operation. By concentrating on imports, Seltics Beer has created a market niche in the world market.  However, the marketing department of Seltics Brewery is starting to receive complaints from their customers regarding the delay in the delivery of their orders. So, the general manager called a meeting to determine the causes of delay. During the meeting, they found that the level of inventory is not enough to fill all the orders at the time of delivery. Because of this situation, the person in-charge of the delivery has to reschedule the loading of goods and delivery to the customers. Due to changes in the schedule, the trucking service is having a difficulty in getting container units. Once they arrived at the port, the port is congested and vessel schedule change.  Since product on time on time delivery is the most important thing for the company, they have decided to make an agreement in the annual contract with its shipping liner.  They include in the contract that in case of product delivery delay, the shipping liner will need to bear all responsibilities.
