You own a business in the Boston Industrial Park. Your business, Milton’s Super Staplers (a stapler manufacturer), owns the real estate (the land) and the buildings on the property. You rent a portion of your space to another business. Your property is directly next to a vacant lot in the Industrial Park.
Last week you noticed people walking through the vacant lot, marking trees and spraying the ground with spray paint. You are hoping that someone is building a facility on the lot, as you believe it will increase the value of the property you own.
Yesterday at least five (5) construction vehicles were on the lot and workers began to cut down the few remaining trees. As you arrived to your building Tuesday morning, you noticed two (2) Bobcats and a dump truck on the far side of your parking lot, closest to the vacant lot.
You were not concerned. You expected that the workers did not know the parking lot was not owned by the vacant lot owners. You put up signs that say “Employee Parking Only”.
Two days later the vehicles were still there and your signs were gone.
Write a letter to the owner of the vacant lot, a Mr. William Lumberg, detailing your response to this issue. You will be graded on the professionalism of your letter adhering to the elements discussed in class: care, courtesy, and conventions.
