Carbon monoxide and oxygen both can bind to hemoglobin, an important molecule for oxygen transfer in our body. In addition, they compete in binding to this same molecule. When the CO level reaches 800 parts per million (ppm), it can kill a person. Assuming the partial pressure of oxygen in air at the sea level is 0.20 atm, what proportion of CO to oxygen is fatal?
