In 2012, 78% of personal bankruptcies in the U.S. were related to ill health. Of the 78%, 67% of those individuals having to file for bankruptcy HAD health insurance coverage.

Six corporations control the entire health insurance industry market in the U.S. This is nothing less than a cartel. On average we pay exactly three times the price for prescription medications in the U.S. compared to our neighbors to the north in Canada.

Of the 58 most industrialized countries in the world the U.S. is the only one that does not have some sort of universal health care coverage for all citizens. Great Britain has had universal single payer health care since 1948. Canada has had universal medicare coverage for all citizens since 1968.

Comment on this state of affairs. What should the U.S. do about this?
