Jed Clampet takes care of his grandmother, Granny Clampet by making sure that she has food in the house, has her clothes and lines washed, and visits or telephones daily. Jed wants Granny to invest in a company that he owns that produces Wonder Widgets. Jed presents Granny with a contract with gives Granny twenty percent of the company profits in exchange for her investment. Granny signs the contract.

Jed comes to Granny to get his money, but Granny will not give it to him. Can Jed sue Granny for breach of contract? Will he be successful? Please explain why or why not. Would your answer be different if Granny Clampet was not really Jed's grandmother? Please explain.
