Respond to Christi Gallishaw's discussion post:
As technology continues to advances rapidly a lot of systemic, corporate, and individual issues are raised. Biotechnology has advantages such as, helping to aid in the cures and treatment of different illnesses and diseases by manufacturing the drugs faster and at a cheaper price. Concerning crops it improves production for farmers and makes agriculture durable and consistent. It also helps to save energy by reducing the impact of human activity in the environment and the use of natural resources. Although, these benefits sound good, in some cases they are to good to be true. Will what is suppose to help a person end up killing them, (just thinking)?
Some of the systemic issues can show up in the form of job displacement and economic inequality due the increase of artificial intelligence or being able to use advanced technology on the job (simply being tech savvy enough to keep up). There are social, ethical, security, policy & regulation concerns. Corporate issues can be found in the workplace with management and employees being able to adapt or comply with companies and the new technology. There are also corporate responsibility, and accountability issues. Individuals have to worry about employment and job skills, their privacy, health and wellbeing (mentally & physically) because when the flow of technology changes the impact on job security can lead to increased stress and mental health issues. There can also be an impact on social and personal relationships.
So the question is: Can individuals keep up with the rapid growth of technology or do we seem to be falling behind?
