Barium sulfate is swallowed to enhance the contrast of X-ray images of the gastrointestinal tract.

1) Calculate the solubility of Ba2+ in mol/L in pure water. Ksp of BaSO4 at 37 °C = 1.5 x 10-10.

2) In the stomach, the HCl concentration is 0.10 M. Calculate the solubility of Ba2+ in mol/L in this solution. Ka of HSO4- at 37 °C = 7.1 x 10-3.
