PROBLEM 1 -

Darth Dude is in the process of establishing a Sith Light Saber Company.  In the process he discovers that the light saber handles have quality defects in the 88.4º angles.

Darth Dude sends his apprentice, Darth Board to the manufacturing line to research and establish whether the manufacturing process is capable of producing such product.  In the process, he measures 30 samples on 4 different part numbers.

Calculate the process capability (Cp and Cpk) for each hole and explain your results.  Estimate what sources of variation may or may not exist in order to make it in control.

PROBLEM 2 -

Darth Dude is in the process of establishing a Sith Light Saber Company.  In the process he discovers that the light saber handles have quality defects in the 88.4º angles.

Darth Dude sends his apprentice, Darth Board to the manufacturing line to research and establish whether the manufacturing process is capable of producing such product. In the process, he measures batches of 5 samples at a time and gets a total of 30 averaged measurements. Assume that we are looking for a Control chart that fits inside Z = 2 and we know the standard deviation.

Establish and Construct a SPC Chart (X - BAR ONLY) based on these 30 data points for HOLE 1.  Calculate the UCL and LCL and Plot the data points in order to indicate whether they are in control or not.  Explain your results as well. (With regards to process centering and dispersion - IS THE PROCESS IN CONTROL OR OUT OF CONTROL?
