A receiver is made up of three cascaded stages each with a gain of 10 dB and each with a noise figure of 3 dB.

b. Calculate the overall noise figure if only the input stage degrades so that its noise figure becomes 6 dB.

c. Calculate the overall noise figure if only the output stage degrades so that its noise figure becomes 6 dB. Discuss the reason that your answer is smaller than in Part (b).
