The melting of pure zinc is commonly used for DSC calibration.

a. A 20 mg sample of zinc is heated at 10 K min-1, and the peak on the DSC trace has an area of 0.371 W K. Calculate the latent heat of melting of zinc (in kJ mol-1)?

b. The temperature difference between the onset and the maximum of the melting peak for the zinc sample is found to be 4.6 K. If the experiment was repeated at the same heating rate but with a sample of mass 40 mg, what would be the temperature difference between onset and maximum?
