1. Your apartment currently has both a washing machine and a dryer, both made by Kenmore. It takes 30 minutes to wash a load of clothes, and 45 minutes to dry a load. You are considering replacing these two machines with a single European machine that both washes and dries. In addition to taking up less space, this European machine is more efficient, completing a load of clothes (both washing and drying) in 60 minutes. You currently do three loads of laundry (whites, darks, and permanent press) every other Sunday afternoon. In order to decide whether or not to buy this new machine, you need to calculate a number of performance measures.
