There are two cab componies sharing the district. Both companies have a 2 cars. Average call rate is 8 calls per hour and ride takes 12 min average. Calls are made with Poisson distribution and ride time are distributed with exponential distribution. One of the companies is owned by Gomis and he is considering to buy the other company. Muslera is one of the drivers and suggests Gomis to upgrade cars instead of buying the other company. Let is clasify those two options. Consider Gomis idea of buying the other company. In this case Gomis will have 4 cars and all the demand will came to his only cab company. This option will cost approximately 1.2 Million TL( since the cab plates are very expensive) According to Muslera’s idea number of cars will stay the same (i.e.2) demand will be the same but average rid time will be reduced by 2 min. This option will cost about 200.000TL. a) Consider the current situation. Calculate average waiting time of a customer for a cab b) Consider Gomis idea.
