Social responsibility relates to the role an organization plays in protecting and enhancing society. People have different opinions about the degree to which companies should have such a responsibility. Some argue that companies create many of society’s problems and, therefore, should be obligated to help solve them. Other people believe that businesses exist primarily to earn profits for their owners and that requiring greater social responsibility of businesses undermines that objective.
