“SWOT analysis summarises the key issues from the business environment and the strategic capability of an organisation that are most likely to impact on strategy development.” (Johnson, Scholes & Whittington) Using either of the following (i) an organization in which you are employed (ii) an organisation of which you are closely acquainted and(iii) a hypothetical organisation and answer the following questions in the form of an essay with the appropriate paragraphs.

1. Introduction of company including, but not limited to; legal or ownership structure, mission statement, vision statement, strategic intent or thrust 4 marks

2. A SWOT analysis looking at the internal (Strengths/Weaknesses) and external (Opportunities/Threats) environments. You are to list a minimum of three (3) significant factors from each category. 16 marks

3. Based on your SWOT analysis you are required to advise the management team on your findings and on how they can use the organisation’s strengths to capitalise on the opportunities identified. 5 marks Requirements

Students are expected to present a proper MS Word document complete with the organisation’s name (NOTE: pseudo names MUST be used instead of organizations correct name), business/service activity, and mission statement.

Proper citation must be done using the APA Style version 6.
