Budgeting and budgetary control

Abstract

Table of contents

Introduction with managerial problem statement

Literature synthesis with gaps and research opportunities (The literature synthesis must not lack specificity and theoretical debate). Please
research more to bring out materials that states or show how budgeting and budgetary control can lead to a better organizational performance. There must be a connection between this as not just listing things that are irrelevant to the discussion. Please substantiate this very well with better argument and support same with recent and valid articles. You may look at the works of Chong and Chong 2002, Anthony & Govindarjan (2003) and many others concerning how budgeting and budgetary control leads to better performance. The gaps as well should be explored.

· What is the kind of trend, if any, existing between the above variables?

Preliminary conceptualization with hypotheses (please note that the proposed study

Must be theoretically embedded and the hypotheses should be substantiated in how it may fill a gap in the literature nor what supports the rationale theoretically). The conceptual framework must be in the form of a diagram please with some notes given. If there is no space, please use appendix page to put it. Please state your hypothesis to reflect the research and research questions (500 words, u may use appendix if needed)

Anticipated contributions to theory and contributions to practice (The contributions should be very clear and substantiated based on the proposed research). Please think out what you feel this research will contribute to body of knowledge, what new knowledge would this topic contribute to knowledge. Go straight to the point.

Sample (You must provide support for and details concerning this sampling method with respect to representativeness and needed statistical power). You may focus on budgeting and budgetary control of firms perhaps telecom industry and manufacturing sector based in USA, UK and Australia

Also please do not go and start defining what hypothesis is all about in the proposal, just go straight and state your facts in relation to the topic being discussed. Also do not go and start defining what sampling, focus group or quantitative and qualitative research is all about, just go straight how it will help the research.

Note as these are very important

1) some of you have not reviewed relevant literature in academic journals to the extent that you can provide a solid argument to substantiate what has already been explained with respect to your managerial problem statement and what has not yet (ie, this is a basis to specify 'open/available' research opportunities and to justify your choice of research questions). Given that all of you have reviewed to a larger or lesser extent relevant literature and, accordingly, have a basis to build on, the remaining days should be sufficient to refine this. So, please consider whether this is an area which you personally have to address.

2) then, some of you have articulated hypotheses that are clearly substantiated by suitable theoretical arguments. Reflect on whether the argument embedded in each of your hypotheses draws on a theory and specific argument made in such. If not, search for a suitable and relevant theory that can assist you in doing so.

3) also, when outlining your research design and approach, you need to be specific in explaining what you do and why you do it in such a way. So, please review your work and check whether you have actually provided detail and whether you have explained why such an approach is most suitable, for example, to empirically test your hypotheses.

4) when articulating your contributions, please build on the insights generated in the above mentioned aspects concerning points 1 and 2: In the former you outline where existing theory that is related to your topic falls short in providing a suitable explanation; in the latter you draw on other theories to substantiate your hypotheses that provide a potential solution to your research question. The first explains where you make your contribution and the second how you make a theoretical contribution".
