Introduction

NOOR is a leading international construction company located in Ghala Industrial Area, Muscat, Oman. NOOR has extensive multi-disciplinary projects undertaken and has a very good reputation in construction industry, especially in commercial and residential development.

Recently, NOOR has secured another multi-disciplinary project with a total project cost of RO 10 million. The project is to establish a 5-star resort in Qurayyat. The client has briefly set out the requirements for the facility which will:

• Provide space for The Resort
• All facilities must be equipped with the latest facilities
• Provide sufficient community facilities
• Have high speed communication links to major database and stakeholders

Task Description

A number of sub-projects have been identified for the multi-disciplinary project. As a team, you are responsible to prepare a Gantt Chart, resource estimation and cost plan for the following sub-projects.

You are to prepare a draft of project plan comprising a and Gantt Chart, resource estimation and cost plan. This proposal is to be issued to the Project Control Committee of NOOR.

The Gantt Chart is to be prepared using Microsoft Project and should comprise between 20 to 30 activities. Clearly identify they key milestones, interdependencies with other sub-projects, the critical path, early dates and total float.

Your submission to the Project Control Committee should comprise the following:

i) Project description
ii) A letter to the client requesting approval for the Gantt Chart
iii) A Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
iv) A Gantt Chart showing as a minimum: The critical path, early dates, total float, relationship between activities, key milestones, and resources
v) Resource estimation and cost
vi) Any key assumptions or allowances and constraints in your project.
