It is imperative and wise for the employers to have a clear picture of the employee’s background before recruiting such persons to an organization. As such, many companies have reverted to using the social sites profiles of job candidates as a method of scrutiny in the hiring process. Ethically, many people might regard such steps as violations of individual privacy. However, it should be noted and known that when some material is posted on a social site for the public view especially on the internet, it is not private and thus does not constitute to invasions of individual privacy. On the other hand, the act can be considered as legal only if it doesn’t violate the federal laws on discrimination based on ethnicity or race.
