Report Part A, Part B, and the Poster presentation, pitch and panel.

Select one of the following Australian subpopulations that you are interested in learning more about.

1. People living in rural and remote areas
2. Older Australians
3. Youth
4. Transgender Australians

6. Prisoners
7. Refugees

You will be required to:

- research the sub-population and identify their specific health needs and the issues surrounding their health service provision.
- report on a (new) fictitious health service/program to meet one of the identified needs.
- develop a poster to promote your service to its target audience.
- ‘pitch' your service idea to a funding panel.
- participate as a funder for another group

PART A: REPORT ON THE HEALTH STATUS OF THE SUBPOPULATION

Approximately 1200 words (excluding references and subheadings).

Your report must address the points below. Each point is a sub-heading in the written report.

1. Identify and describe the specific health and wellbeing status of the subgroup. Provide at least 3 references
to support this.

2. Identify and explain the barriers that the sub-population may face when accessing health services. Be specific. Provide at least 3 references to support this.

3. List and explain two aspects of existing health service provision that are already in place to remove the barriers and support the sub-population. Provide references to support this.

4. Identify and explain any deficits in the health provisions for this sub-group, that have not been addressed.

5. Make a brief proposal about how the above deficit might be better addressed by your fictitious service.

PART B REPORT ON THE FICTITIOUS HEALTH SERVICE PROPOSED IN PART A

Approximately 300 words (excluding references and subheadings).

Your report must address the points below. Each point is a sub-heading in the written report.

(For Report Part B, when you are asked to “briefly explain”, use no more than 2 sentences)

1. Identify the of name of fictitious health service/program and briefly explain why you have chosen that name.

2. List, in bullet points, the deficit identified in Part A (point 4) that the fictitious service/program is aiming to address.

3. List 3 aims of the service/program. The aims that will address the identified needs.

4. Briefly describe the type of venue your program will need (a shop front with <5 rooms, a building >5 rooms, a mobile van etc)

5. List the funding source(s) for your program and briefly explain why you have chosen it/them.

6. Identify the number of staff and their profession.

7. Identify the relevant accreditation of the staff and briefly explain why you have made that choice.

8. What provider payment type will you use for your staff? Briefly explain the reason for your choice.

9. List 5 strategies you will use for your organisation to uphold the rights of the patient.

10. Will those seeking your service be referred to as patients, clients, consumers, other? Briefly explain your reasoning.

11. Will the users of your service be expected to pay the full cost of the service, a co-payment (what percentage/amount) or will the service be free to all or some of your clients? Briefly explain your reasoning.

12. Will there be a consumer representative on your board? Briefly explain your reasoning.

13. How will you measure the success of your service? Each aim needs to be measured.
