A battery is limited in the amount of current that it can supply to a load. When disconnected and fully charged, the voltage across the battery terminals is measured to be 13.8 V. When connected to a load that dissipates 18 W of power, the terminal voltage of the battery decreases to 12 V.
a. What would be the terminal voltage of the battery when connected to a 12 ohm load?
b. At what load resistance is maximum power delivered to the load?
c. How is this load resistance for maximum power transfer related to the output resistance (Thévenin equivalent resistance)?
