Think of a time when you wrote something that influenced another person. This could be in any context and of any length. For example, it could be a text you sent to your partner to convince them to go to the restaurant you wanted to for dinner. It could be a cover letter you wrote in order to get a job you really wanted. It could be a five paragraph essay you wrote in high school to get a good grade in English class. Write a word reflection answering the following questions:

• What was the piece of writing and how was it meant to influence the other person?
• What decisions did you make when you crafted the piece of writing? Think of all the specifics you can. For example, if it was an email to a potential employer, did you send it first thing on a Monday morning in order to look professional?  If it was an essay for school, did you ask anyone else to read it and give their opinion? Did you edit and proofread the piece of writing, perhaps using the thesaurus function on MS Word in order to improve how it sounded? What strategies did you use to influence the reader?
• Was your piece of writing successful? Did it influence the reader in the way you wanted it to?
