1. Write an essay response (at least 150 words long) that analyzes 2 works of prehistoric art (Woman from Willendorf, Lion-Human, Bird-Headed Man with Bison, and House from Catalhoyuk) and argues in favor of seeing these objects as works of art that are much like the art/architecture we produce today-meaningful images, objects, and structures that reflect important parts of our culture and appeal to our intellects rather than a need for survival.
2. ART OF THE ANCIENT NEAR EAST (at least 200 words long )
Choose at least 2 works of art (Cuneiform, Sumerian Art, The stele of Hammurabi) and discuss how the inventions of agriculture and/or language influenced their creation. There are no easy answers here. This question requires critical thinking and independent analysis on your part.

Discuss the roles death and the afterlife played as significant subjects of Egyptian art and architecture.
