John, a 14-year-old immigrant from Gana, migrated to the United States with his parents and siblings in 2018. John reported his father to his teacher for abuse. He came back from school on Friday with a new cell phone. John's father saw the phone and noticed it was different from the phone he had bought for him. His father pressed further, and his son told him he was disturbing him. His father got a call from his son's school the following week requesting his presence. When he visited his son's school, the principal told him that his son, John, would face suspension if he failed to provide the phone he stole from his teacher. When John got home from school, his father asked him to repeat what he had previously told him when he asked how he got a new phone. John arrogantly walked away from his father. His father reached out to pull him back, but John accidentally failed and bumped his head on the door. When he was asked if it was the first time such an incident had occurred, he told his teacher that it was the first time it had happened.
