Analyze how General Mills represents and advances the goals of its stakeholders
General Mills represents the goals of its stakeholders by finding efficiencies in procurement, production, and distribution of its products.
By finding efficiencies it helps eliminated waste, which appeals to conservationists and eco-friendly stakeholders. However, the elimination of waste also helps improve profit by utilizing and selling more of a supply. The increased profit benefits General Mills as well as investors.
For example, General Mills recently paired with EPIC provisions in a "nose to tail" (Olmstead, 2016) program that uses almost every possible substance in the animal to create a useable product.
General Mills also advances the goals of its stakeholders while simultaneously advancing its own through partnerships.
General Mills paired with WAL-MART to work with non-profit organizations like Field to Market to increase sustainable food production (Schroeder, 2014). This sustainable production focuses on increasing efficiency and output of suppliers while also utilizing recycled products.
The increased supply efficiency advances the goals of the farmer stakeholder group and utilizing recycled products helps eliminate costs for general mills while also appealing to eco-friendly stakeholders (Schroeder, 2014). The decreased costs and possible benefits of increased partnership with Wal-Mart would appeal to shareholders.
