Analytical report on the diversity management practices of a chosen organisation
Task Description
Assessment requires students a submit an analytical report on the diversity related policies and practices of a chosen organization from hospitality and tourism industry.
Task Requirements
Students need to identify an organisation from hospitality and tourism sector assigned by the lecturer and analyse its diversity policies and practices. A report should be developed based on the effectiveness of the policies and practices employed by the chosen organisation to deal with diversity related challenges and issues. The following information should be included in the report:
• Introduction to the assigned sector and chosen organisation.
• Identification of the forms of diversity encountered by the organisation both within (among employees) and outside (among customers and clients).
• Identification of the policies and practices employed by the organisation to deal with diversity.
• Students analysis of the effectiveness of the policies and practices employed by the organisation in light of the academic literature. Discuss both positive and negative impacts of policies and practices on employees and customers.
• Recommendations to the organisation to enhance the diversity experience of employees and customers.
Students must use at least 6 academic sources in their analysis and discussion. Industry reports and organisational websites will not be counted for minimum requirement of 6 academic sources.
The report should follow the following format:
• Executive summary (not included in the word count)
• Table of contents (not included in the word count)
• Introduction
• Main body including analysis and discussion
• Recommendations
• Conclusion
• References (not included in word count)
• Appendices, if any (not included in word count)
Assessment Criteria
The assessment will be graded based on:
• Description of the assigned industry, chosen organisation and identification of the forms of diversity present within and outside the organisation.
• Through research and literature, analysis of the effectiveness of policies and practices employed by the chosen organisation.
• Discussion of the recommendations to enhance diversity experience of employees and customers.
• Correct use of report format with relevant information in each section, clear language, correct grammar, sentence structure and language.
• Quality of research and correct use of referencing style (APA style)
