Learning Outcome 1: Analyse the key considerations SMEs should consider when evaluating growth opportunities.

Assignment Brief

In order to carry out this assessment you are required to select a small business of your choice (this could include a local taxi business, take away/restaurant or small retail business) to use as the basis of your investigation into strategies and methods to enable growth. This must be a SME (not a multinational, large limited company)

Your presentation should include a brief introduction of your chosen business and the following.

1. Based on the SME of your choice you must present an analysis of the key factors when considering growth possibilities, you must justify your rationale. Apply Ansoff's growth vector matrix and evaluate the growth opportunities.

2. Consider further analytical tools when considering growth opportunities with a clear focus on competitive advantage.

3. Critically evaluate clearly defined opportunities for growth, considering the risks associated and how they may be alleviated.

You are required to present your findings through an oral Presentation accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation, the time allotted is 10 - 15 minutes, with an additional 10 minutes allowed for questioning and peer to peer feedback.
