Theory Poster - Create a poster that represents 3 major theories within the context of early childhood education
Purpose
Early Childhood theories focus on explaining how children change and grow over the course of childhood. They provide a framework for thinking about human growth and learning. As an early childhood teacher working with children, it's important to understand each theoretical perspective and use parts of different theories in your practice.
Learning outcome 1: Articulate and critique major theories within the context of early childhood education
Learning outcome 2: Analyse and debate current research and contemporary issues in relation to children aged birth-8 5 years
Learning outcome 3: Formulate teaching practices grounded in reciprocal relationships with children, families, and communities.
Instructions
To get started on your assessment task, please follow the below instructions.
1. Create an A3 poster that represents 3 theories, each from a different perspective. You might like to choose theories from the Developmental, Socio-cultural, Socio-Behaviourist, Critical or Post Structuralist perspectives.
2. For each theory, indicate the perspective it refers to and insert 4 pieces of information that illustrate it. Please note: 1 piece of information should be a paragraph that explains the theory in your own words. The other 3 pieces might include a picture - drawing - quote - poem...etc. The 4 pieces together should provide the reader with an overview of the theory.
3. At the end of the poster, include 300 words to indicate your favourite theory, the reason of choice and how you can apply it in your practice as a teacher.
4. Write correctly, check grammar, spelling and sentence structure.
5. Include in-text referencing and a reference list of at least 3 sources written according to the Harvard Style.
