In a correctly banked turn of radius R, an aircraft executes a horizontal turn at constant true air speed, V, with no sideslip and zero roll rates. The aircraft must bank at an angle phi from the horizontal so that the horizontal component of its lift force, L, counteracts the centrifugal force. Show that the required bank angle satisfies tan (phi)=V^2/gR and the associated lad factor is n=sec(phi).
