Various consultancy firms try to implement 'new' business models without (being able to afford) abandoning their traditional model, which is characterized by deploying consultants against a fee based on an hourly rate. They combine various business models - such as success fees, value pricing, subscriptions based on software - under one roof. Some argue that professional services firms should stick to one business model and that combinations of business models may jeopardize the firm's stability. This is challenged today.
