"According to Supply Chain 4.0 in Consumer Goods, the focus of the supply chain management role has altered to "advanced planning processes" based more on the actual demand from end consumers enabled by digital analytical forecasting and integrating operations planning." (1) Without having these advanced planning processes, a company like Procter and Gamble would face many challenges with meeting customer demand and having their products go from manufacturing, to the shelves of stores, to the homes of customers. Not meeting supply and demand would be the biggest problem a large company like Procter & Gamble would face by not having an integrated inventory supply chain system like the multi echelon method. If the company wanted to cut down on inventory costs without having this planning method in place, a product they make could be in high demand but by cutting the cost of inventory on hand would cut the supply of inventory on hand. This would make it much harder to make the demands of customers because they wouldn't have the supply of products to give them.
