Question
Book: Vantage Lifespan Development: Lives in Context BY: Tara L. Kuther, Third Edition, 2022
We talked about how important social relationships are during adolescence and emerging adulthood. And these relationships are so complicated - popularity, friendship, bullying, social media, oh my! Many books, shows, and movies have issues of adolescent peer relationships, so for this week choose an example of an adolescent or emerging adulthood friendship in the media and respond to the following:
1. Identify the title and type of media (e.g., book, movie, show, play) and the year it came out. Give a VERY brief synopsis of the plot.
2. Who are the two characters you will focus on? Describe them briefly (age, gender, social status, etc.), and also describe their friendship.
3. Choose one topic from this week's lecture/reading and elaborate in the context of your chosen characters (e.g., bullying: Regina George and Cady from Mean Girls. Please use a different example). Be specific and provide clear examples from both your show/book etc. and from the text/lectures.
4. Do you think this relationship accurately depicts adolescent or emerging adulthood relationships?
