Question

You read about how company's go about creating a new product development strategy. We also saw the big question of whether to Standardize or Adapt as we enter new international markets.

The discussion this week aims to get you to consider marketing from a completely different perspective. We have read and thought much about creating a product that consumers need, one that solves some need or problem they have.

But what about bringing to consumers products that already exist (not one that was created after talking to said group of customers), but of which they either don't know, or of which they don't realize the importance of.

Watch the video (16:14) to hear Melinda Gates. talk about taking important international marketing lessons from a company like Coca-Cola and using it to ensure basic requirements like vaccinations or the idea of hygiene reach the remote parts of the world. Here we are talking not of selling a new product, but "selling" an idea; using lessons we've learned from Coke!
