A stream of gas containing 3 mol % hydrogen sulphide enters an absorption column. The composition of hydrogen sulphide in the gas stream is to be reduced to 0.1 mol percent by the use of H2O. Solve for the number of equilibrium stages required by the iterative procedure and by the Kremser relationship If The molar ratio L'/V' is 2 times the minimum. Equilibrium between the composition of Hydrogen sulphide in the gaseous and liquid phases can be represented as Yn=48.3Xn.
