A recent survey of community colleges found the average age of attending students to be 29. A class of 24 students has a mean age of 26 and a standard deviation of 1.6.

A curious parent observes a cereal commercial that states their product has an average of 50 pieces of real fruit per box with a standard deviation of 6 pieces per box. She decides to check the accuracy of this statement by selecting 100 boxes of cereal and counting the number of pieces of fruit in each box. The mean number of pieces of fruit for her experiment was 45 pieces of fruit per box.
