Learning outcome 1: Develop an awareness of marketing approaches and strategies used by a wide range of organisation.

Learning outcome 2: Assess the advantages and disadvantages of the main marketing conceptual frameworks and apply them in practice.

Learning outcome 3: Learn to utilise secondary research sources in related marketing concepts to build and back up analysis of marketing decisions and recommendations

Details of the task

You have decided to start a small business in your local city. However, you are not clear on key concepts such as: the 7Ps of marketing, Segmentation, targeting and positioning and market research and how they relate to the small business you are starting up in your local city. You have been requested to undertake some research and write an individual report on the following issues:

Your individual report should include:

- A brief discussion of the business you intend to start up in your main city
- Detailed Marketing Mix for the business you intend to start up in your main city (7 P's for the business)
- Segmentation, Targeting and Positioning of your business (for business in your main city)
- Importance of Market Research for the business
- Recommendations for the business (for your main city operation- based on your marketing mix, STP and market research)

- (individual reports must be submitted by the deadline dates indicated on Aula)

Structure

You have been asked to produce a report. It should contain the following:
• Appropriate coversheet (as attached in this document - please ensure appropriate coversheet is attached to your assessment brief)
• Title Page, including the given title in full.
• Contents Page
• Introduction
• Main body, which should also be organised under appropriate headings.
• Conclusion
• Appendices, which should be numbered.
o Make sure you refer your reader to them as required.

Layout

Your work should be word processed in accordance with the following:
• Font style, Helvetica Neue or new times roman font size 12
• 1.5 line spacing.
• The page orientation should be ‘portrait'
• Margins on both sides of the page should be no less than 2.5 cm
• Pages should be numbered
• Your name [should/should not - delete as required] appear on the script.
• Your student number should be included on every page.

Skills Advice
Refer to your material provided in your academic writing unit to make sure that you have conformed to academic conventions. Pay particular attention to:

• Your conclusion
• The use of headings and/or signpost words
• Paragraph structure
