Piercing Operation
It is a machining operation in which, a punch cuts through unprocessed workpiece and the resulting slug (that means blank) is treated as scrap. Piercing results a hole in workpiece. Piercing is completed by shearing and tearing operation. Principle of piercing operation is also depicted in Figure.
