Justify the term "Software is engineered"

Software is engineered not manufactured. Although some similarities exit among software development and hardware manufacture, the two activities are fundamentally dissimilar. Both activities are dependent on people, but the relationship among people applied and work accomplished is entirely dissimilar. Both activities needs the construction of a "Product" but the approaches are different'.
