Explain the Importance of Vitamin E
Vitamin E has a pronounced antioxidizing effect. Because of this property, vitamin E decreases the basic metabolism of the tissues or the oxygen consumption and protects readily oxidizable compounds like vitamin A and carotenoids in the intestine and the tissues against oxidation. It also promotes utilization of these essential fatty acids and prevents the formation of toxic lipoperoxides which have a detrimental effect on tissues.
