1. For a selected industry (from the selection list next page),
(a) Draw a general process flow diagram for the water and wastewater cycle (Hint, use the flow charts (also available in the course website) as a format guide or template and adapt to your case) and briefly (in a few sentences) explain each key step in the water and wastewater cycle;
(b) List and briefly describe the key water quality requirements for the industry;
(c) List and briefly describe the key characteristics of wastewaters generated in the industry;
(d) Sketch the key water and wastewater quality parameters in a water quality wheel diagram (see end of this document or course website for the template), and
(e) List all the major water and/or wastewater treatment technologies that are used in the water and wastewater treatment processes as shown in the process flow diagram.
2. Select a major water and/or wastewater treatment technology from the processes in Question 1 above,
(a) Explain the general target application areas of the technology,
(b) Explain the scientific/ technical principals of the technology,
(c) List the key process design parameters, and
(d) Briefly discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the technology.
