•Complete your nutrition and fitness goal or goals. You will need to have these completed by the end of the unit. The following steps will help you complete the assignment:

•Look through the resources in this assignment. These will help you:

• Get more information about proper nutrition and fitness.

• Determine the best way to track your nutrition and fitness starting in Unit 6. How you track them is your choice, the results and reflections, which is due in Unit 9, is the expectation. In addition, you will be asked to hand in your nutrition and fitness documentation.
Steps for Competing your Nutrition and Fitness Goals and Tracking Progress

Step 1: Decide how you will track your progress.

There are many free Web sites available, such as SparkPeople and MyFitnessPal. These free sites will allow you to enter what you eat and what physical activities you participate in over the next 3 weeks. If you are already using a tracking program, that is great. The most important thing is that you are required to provide a report at the end of the 3 weeks. Usually the easiest way to do this is to generate and save a tracking report that can be submitted to your instructor.

Step 2: Determine your nutrition and fitness goals

Choose goals that you believe are appropriate for your current health. For some, the goal may be healthy weight loss or gain by balancing the food you eat with physical activity. Others may set a goal to maintain their current nutrition and fitness regimen. You may want to consider goals that involve improvements in your diet, such as increasing whole grains, fruits, and vegetables, or a reduction in refined sugar consumption. Fitness goals may include walking your dog, going to a gym, weightlifting, or other physical activities in which you enjoy participating.

For each goal that you set, you will want to choose specific indicators-steps or actions-that you can actually measure. For example, if your goal is to improve your diet, you might want to reduce your intake of saturated fat or sodium. That is something you can actually measure and track. If your goal is to improve your fitness by making exercise a regular part of your routine, you might add an extra block or mile to your daily walk, take the stairs at work, or start a more specific exercise program. You may choose to focus on cardiovascular exercises or strength-building routines. You can then track the distance involved or the time that you spend doing these things.

You can make your personal health goals as big or small as you wish. The overall objective of the project is to learn how the human body functions and what the body needs in terms of nutrition and activity. The knowledge you gain will give you the tools, methods, and approaches you can use to improve your health.

Now that you have read the course project information and explored tracking Web sites, use this assignment to communicate your fitness and nutrition goals to your instructor.
