One of the most important behavioral aspects of the informal organization is its communication pattern. Now that you have read about the different types of communication networks and the different roles that are used in informal communication, you will examine your personal communication preferences and experiences. Complete the following assignment: Think of two or three informal groups that you are currently a part of or have been part of in the past. Using the Microsoft drawing tools in Word, draw a diagram of the informal communication network predominately used by each group. Write a paper in which you address the following points: Explain whether each communication network is effective or ineffective (e.g., is an alternative communication network more appropriate for the group?). For each group, describe which of these roles you played in the informal network—central connector, boundary spanner, gatekeeper, bridge, or expert. Did you play the same role in each group? Why or why not? Which role(s) would you prefer to play and why? The completed paper should be at least 1 page.
