Multiplication:

The methods of multiplication of fractions differ from addition & subtraction.  The operation of multiplication is performed on both the numerator & the denominator.

Step 1:  Multiply the numerators.

Step 2:  Multiply the denominators.

Step 3:  Reduce fraction to lowest terms.

Example:

2/3 . 1/4 = 2/12 = 1/6

Multiplication of mixed numbers might be accomplished by changing the mixed number to an improper fraction & then multiplying the numerators and denominators.
