Beams With Variable Moment Of Inertia:

Till now, we have solved problems with EI constant for the beam. If the modulus of elasticity, E, or moment of inertia, I, of the beam varies and is not constant along the length of the beam the M/EI   diagram will no longer be similar in nature to the M diagram (bending moment diagram). Hence, this is to be re-drawn and modified taking into consideration the variation of E or I. This is explained in the example below.
